Area roundup: Miller makes history in Fairmont win

Miller now has 2,119 points in her career, passing Mitch Pfingsten, who set the record previously.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
FAIRMONT 68, LCWM 33
LAKE CRYSTAL – Fairmont used seven 3-pointers to fuel a 68-33 victory over Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Tuesday night.
Brylee Miller scored 19 points to place her name as the Fairmont High School girls/boys’ basketball all-time leading scorer. She passed Mitch Pfingsten on the list and now has 2,119 points in her career. Miller also had seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal.
Bria Williamson notched 17 points while only missing two field goals. Olive Kawecki continued her hot shooting after drilling two outside shots, finishing the game with eight points.
Fairmont (22-1) will play at Waseca this Thursday starting at 7:15 p.m.
BOYS BASKETBALL
FAIRMONT 65, TCU 32
MONTGOMERY – Logan Junkermeier, Joseph Hackett and Brayden Williamson each found double figures to propel Fairmont basketball to a 65-32 victory over Tri-City United on Tuesday night.
Junkermeier connected on 11 field goals for a 22-point outburst, hauling down eight rebounds in the process. All five of Hackett’s field goals came from behind the arc for 15 points. Williamson had 10 points and three assists.
Fairmont (19-2) will play Waseca this Thursday at 7 p.m.
ST. JAMES AREA 79, MCW 41
ST. JAMES – The Martin County West basketball team fell to St. James Area 79-41 on Tuesday night.
Chase Owens had 12 points while Knox Larson had six. Carson Scheff had four points.
The Mavericks (2-20) will play Cedar Mountain this Friday at 7 p.m.
BOYS HOCKEY
FAIRMONT 7, REDWOOD VALLEY 3
REDWOOD FALLS – Klay Beemer’s four-goal performance powered the Fairmont hockey team to a 7-3 victory over Redwood Valley on Tuesday night, finishing the regular season strong and moving its record to 7-13. Gavin Kester notched a pair of goals, and Preston Cepress had one himself.
