Area roundup: Red Bulls drop two in Marshall

WRESTLING
MARSHALL – The Martin County Red Bulls fell to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Marshall on Thursday night at Marshall High School. Despite winning five of its last seven matches, the Red Bulls’ comeback effort came up short against TMB/WWG, losing 39-33. Martin County lost to Marshall in its final match of the night, 49-22, with four individuals winning by either technical fall or pin.
Pierce Rohman (145 lbs) picked up two wins on the night against TMB/WWG’s David Schuh and Marshall’s Dawson DeCamp. Kaedin Lange (172 lbs) had an impressive night with a pin over TMB/WWG’s Nevin Marten and a tech fall over Marshall’s Eh Kwor. Aaron Becker (215 lbs) had two pins himself, finishing his performance with a win over Marshall’s Ethan Mattison. DJ Miller (285 lbs) had two pins over TMB/WWG’s Jack Willhite and Marshall’s Felix Kelsey.
The Red Bulls will travel to Wabasso this Saturday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
GHEC/T/ML 64, Springfield 52
GRANADA – The Granada Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther girls basketball team defeated Springfield 64-52 on Thursday night in Granada to extend its winning streak to three.
Five Jaguars reached double figures. Keira Benck led all scorers with 15 points while collecting 10 rebounds and five steals. Londyn Bowers and Addison Nowicki each had 13 points of their own. Kayla Mattson had 11 points to go with six rebounds. Ava Donahue notched 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Jaguars (7-4) will play Loyola Catholic Friday night, starting at 7 p.m.
