Area roundup: Red Bulls win two at Luverne

WRESTLING

LUVERNE – The Martin County Red Bulls took down Wabasso and Luverne during Tuesday night’s triangular held at the Luverne High School. After defeating Wabasso 34-33 with a late pin from Aaron Becker (215), the Red Bulls continued their dominance against the host team, topping the Cardinals 47-28 with six individuals getting a pin.

Brock Jagodzinske (121,114 lbs) secured two wins over Wabasso’s Spencer Salfer and Luverne’s Ridha Kadhim. Pierce Rohman (139 lbs) defeated Wabasso’s Zach Skoblik via TF before pinning Luverne’s Aaron Kindt. Brock Stauffer (145 lbs), Torrey Paplow (152 lbs) and Kaedin Lange (172,160 lbs) each secured two wins. Becker and DJ Miller (285) both notched pins to hold down the back line.

The Red Bulls will travel to Marshall this Thursday.

BOYS HOCKEY

Redwood Valley 7, Fairmont 4

REDWOOD FALLS – The Fairmont boys hockey team fell to Redwood Valley 7-4 on Tuesday night at the Redwood Area Community Center. The Cardinals gave up three goals in the final period to earn their seventh loss of the season.

Hunter Olson, Gavin Kester, Axel Chapman and Preston Cepress each scored a goal for Fairmont.

Fairmont (4-7) will host Windom Area this Thursday at Martin County Arena starting at 7 p.m.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

GHEC/T/ML 67, Cleveland 42

CLEVELAND – Keira Benck, Londyn Bowers and Addison Nowicki each reached double figures during Granda Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther’s 67-42 victory over Cleveland on Tuesday night.

Benck finished with 26 points, nine steals and six rebounds. Bowers and Nowicki each had 11 points with a combined 13 rebounds.

The Jaguars (6-4) will play Springfield this Thursday in Granada starting at 5:45 p.m.

MCW 69, Madelia 33

MADELIA – Martin County West girls basketball used a 39-point first half to take down Madelia 69-33 on Tuesday night.

Emily Schettler had 17 points. Maddie Carlson had 15 points. Ida Rohman had 14 points.

The Mavericks (8-7) will take on Cleveland this Friday night in Sherburn starting at 7 p.m.
