MCW 72, Madelia 28

SHERBURN – The Martin County West girls basketball team toppled Madelia 72-28 on Friday night at the Martin County West High School gymnasium.

Maddie Carlson had 14 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Emily Schettler had 12 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Bailey Larson chipped in 10 points of her own on five field goals.

The Mavericks (6-5) will play at Sleepy Eye this coming Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m.

BOYS WRESTLING

WINDOM – The Martin County Maverick wrestling team went 2-2 on Friday afternoon while competing in the Windom Quad, beating Springfield and Wadena-Deer Creek and falling to Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and Windom-Mountain Lake.

Pierce Rohman (139/145) went 4-0 in the afternoon with three finishes against ACGC’s Dyllan Michnowski, WDC’s Hudson Schultz and WML’s Dagen Hansen.

Ryan Szafryk (285) went 3-1 with pins against Springfield’s Dominic Senst and WDC’s Malakkai Tarkong.

Aaron Becker (215) and Torrey Paplow (160/172) each went 4-0 after earning a pair of forfeit wins and decision victories.
