Fairmont 69, MVL 34

LAKE CRYSTAL – The Fairmont girls basketball team opened up the first round of the LCRM Girls Basketball Tournament with a 69-34 win over Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Monday night.

Brylee Miller scored 31 points while notching 11 rebounds and five steals. Makayla Lowry and Bria Williamson each scored 11 points on a combined nine field goals.

The Cardinals (8-0) will play New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in the tournament finals.

Fairmont 63, Mankato Loyola 48

MANKATO – This past Saturday, the Fairmont boys basketball team took down Mankato Loyola, 63-48, in the second round of the Kwik Trip Holiday Tournament held at Bethany Lutheran College.

Joseph Hackett led all scorers with 17 points after knocking down three outside shots while also picking up eight rebounds. Brayden Williamson had 13 points after shooting 50% from the field. Jordan Thompson’s four 3-pointers fueled his 12-point scoring effort.

The Cardinals moved to 6-2 on the season.
