MARSHALL – The Martin County Area Magic soared above Marshall 128.225-110.625 in a nonconference gymnastics meet Thursday.
Lillie Schultz took first all-around with a 34.575. She took first place in all four disciplines, with an (9.025) in the vault, an (8.0) on the bars, an (8.725) on the beam, and 8.825 in the floor routine.
Jadyn Montgomery got second all-around with a 31.375. She was second on the vault, bars, and floor routine with a (8.65), (7.45), and (8.325) respectively. Montgomery placed sixth on the beam with a (6.95).
Nola Thedens nabbed fourth with a 28.725 all-around. She was third in the vault with a (8.55), eighth on the bars with a (6.25), third on the beam with a (7.5), and ninth in the floor routine with a (6.425).
The Cardinals face New Ulm next Friday, December 19, at 6 p.m. in the Fairmont Armory
GIRLS HOCKEY
Fairmont 13, SC 2
FARIBAULT – The Fairmont High School girls hockey team toppled South Central on Thursday night, 13-2, at Faribault Ice Arena.
Alexis and Halyn Haycraft each scored four goals to fuel the Cardinal victory. Harper Artz, Kynlee Beemer, Kennedy Murphy, Mariel Parish, and Lauren Bettin all filled the stat sheet with a goal themselves. All but two scores from the Cardinals were assisted.
Fairmont (4-2-1) continues its season this Saturday with a home match against Winona/Cotter at 1 p.m.
PREP WRESTLING
WORTHINGTON – The Martin County Red Bulls dropped to Worthington and Waseca, 44-30 and 40-34, in the Worthington Triangular at Worthington High School. Pierce Rohman (145) had two pins over Martin Daymar and Jackson Janike. Aaron Becker (215) and DJ Miller (218) each had one pin in their Waseca matches against Lucas Sehnun and Matthew Veroeven, respectively. Hector Gomez (121) secured a Waseca’s Owen Sommers. Kaedin Lange (160) notched a pin over Waseca’s Sam Sehnun in the third period.
The Red Bulls are back in action this Saturday in a tournament at Blue Earth Area High School starting at 10 a.m.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
JCC 70, GHEC/T/ML 48
GRANADA – The Granada-Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars fell to Jackson County Central 70-48 in a nonconference game Thursday.
Keira Benck led the way with 21 points and 6 rebounds, while Londyn Bowers had 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 steals. Kayla Mattson had 8 rebounds and 5 steals, while Addi Nowicki had 7 points.
The Jaguars (1-1) have their next game Friday, December 5, at 7 p.m. versus Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial (LCWM) at the LCWM High School.
