ST. PETER – Fairmont’s Emelia Klanderud and Alison Slama became the 2A section champions in doubles Wednesday.

It started with a defeat of Ellie and Alivia Romsdahl of St. James 6-1, 6-0. They had to face Macy Sohre and Madison Ward of Maple River, who defeated a second St. James doubles team 6-2, 6-0. Klanderud and Slama were able to take down Sohre and Ward 6-3, 6-3 to become the 2A section champions.

With their victory comes a bigger challenge. They have advanced to the state tournament, where they will compete for a shot at the state championship starting October 23rd.
