Fairmont cross-country teams finish top 3

JACKSON – The Fairmont High School boys and girls cross-country teams took home second and third-place finishes, respectively, while competing in the on Tuesday afternoon.

Leading the way for the boys team was Cooper Gudahl, who earned a fifth-place finish (18:15.00) behind Worthington’s Asrat Bonnett.

Devin Hanson, Cole Hanson, Ethan Siebring, Carmyne Hecht, and Holden Junkermeier rounded off the top six for the Cardinals, placing 11th (18:54.70), 15th (19:25.60), 16th (20:22.70), 17th (20:29.60), and 20th (20:40.10).

Seth Siebring and Michael Hamlet earned 27th (21:11:30) and 28th-place (21:11.80) finishes, respectively.

For the girls, Brooklyn Stone and Delaney Klug were neck and neck, finishing in sixth (23:44.27) and eighth place (24:01.93). Avery Steuber was not too far behind with a 15th-place finish (25:17.13).

Capping off the top five for the Cardinals were Feven Hoyer and Kendra Blomster, who placed 35th (26:55.02) and 41st (27:37.46), respectively.

Fairmont continues the season this coming Tuesday, traveling to the St. James Golf Course to compete in the St James Cross Country Invitational.
