Area roundup: Fairmont volleyball, girls soccer teams earn shutouts

Fairmont 3, BEA 0
FAIRMONT – The Fairmont High School volleyball team bested Blue Earth Area in straight sets on Tuesday night: 25-13, 25-21, 25-17.
Leslie Zarling had 27 set assists and 12 digs. Brylee Miller recorded 12 kills and 18 digs. Nora Fitzgerald notched 17 digs and four aces. Harper Artz and Makayla Lowry each had eight digs of their own, with Artz tacking on six kills.
Fairmont (4-6) continues the 2025 season on Thursday against Waseca. The match is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
GIRLS SOCCER
Fairmont 9, Worthington 0
WORTHINGTON – Fairmont Area girls soccer took down Worthington, 9-0, on Tuesday night.
Mollie Leiding and Grace Kotewa tallied two goals and two assists each for the Cardinals.
Mataya and Lianna Weber each recorded a goal of their own in the second half.
Rounding out the scoring for Fairmont was Alissa Moore and Nola Thedens.
Lauren Zarling had two assists.
Goalkeeper Addie Folkerts notched one save.
Fairmont (4-2-2) continues the season this Thursday with a match against Tri-City United. Kickoff for this contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
