GHEC/T/ML 3, USC 1

WELLS – Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther bested United South Central on Thursday night 23-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-21 in a nonconference girls volleyball match.

Keira Benck helped the Jaguars with 41 assists and three solo blocks. Londyn Bowers led the team in kills with 27, throwing in 18 digs as well. Addison Nowicki had five kills of her own. Kayla Mattson led GHEC/T/ML in serves by going 24 for 27 and four aces. Ashley Singleton had two aces of her own.

The Jaguars come back to the court next Thursday with a home match against Cleveland High School. First serve is set to begin at 7 p.m.

MCW 3, ST. CLAIR 1

ST. CLAIR – The Martin County West Mavericks defeated St. Clair 25-22, 25-22, 18-25, 25-18 in a nonconference volleyball matchup at the St. Clair gymnasium Thursday.

Emily Schettler led the Mavericks with 43 assists while also having eight digs. Maddie Carlson and Brynlee Haukoos were the tops in kills, with 14 and 13, respectively. Both of them had 17 digs, while Haukoos had three aces. Lillie Schultz had the most digs with 21.

The Mavericks have their next matchup next Tuesday against Mountain Lake at 7 p.m. in the MCW Elementary Trimont Gym.
