BOYS GOLF

Henderson takes

6th at state

WATERLOO — As the lone representative of his school at the 1A Iowa Golf State Championship, Drew Henderson made the most of it.

Against dozens of qualifiers, Henderson tied for sixth with a 152 over two days of play. Due to handicap he was placed in seventh.

Coach Chris Hansen said it was not a piece of cake for Henderson to earn this score.

“Drew found himself in trouble a few times during the first round, including being stuck under an evergreen tree and being forced to hit left-handed to make it out,” Hansen said. “The greens were extremely slick and I don’t think there was a straight putt to be found outside of 3 feet on either day.”

The key to his success was his driver and long iron, according to Hansen, as they consistently produced the shots Henderson needed.

Starting at $2.99/week.
