Area roundup: Fairmont girls golf victorious in 4-way meet

REDWOOD VALLEY – Fairmont picked up the win in a four-way golf invitational Thursday against St. Peter, New Ulm, and Redwood Valley.
Faimront’s Katherine Zelaya took first place individually with a 90, while teammates Carly Gustafson took third with a 95 and Leslie Zarling got fourth with a 101.
Fairmont’s next meet will be the Big South Championship Monday May 12 at 10 a.m. at the Dacotah Ridge Golf Club in Morton.

ST. PETER 316, NEW ULM 321, REDWOOD VALLEY 345, FAIRMONT 366
REDWOOD VALLEY – Fairmont placed fourth in an invitational versus St. Peter, New Ulm and Redwood Valley Thursday.
Hudson McKean was the top scorer for Fairmont, placing 14th overall with a 90. Macklain Anderson and Klay Beemer were right on his coattails, tying for 17th with a 91.
Fairmont’s next meet will be Friday at 8:30 a.m. in a nine-way invitational at Le Sueur Country Club.

NEW ULM 84, RIVER VALLEY 47, WABASSO 45, GHEC/T/ML 14
SLEEPY EYE – The Granada Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther (GHEC/T/ML) Jaguars placed fourth against New Ulm, River Valley, and Wabasso in a meet Thursday.
Bowan Sill placed sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.82.
Khyran Claxton finished third in the 800 with a 2:25.41. He along with Brock Steinbrink, Jonah Moeller, and Xavier Hausladen took fourth in the 4×200-meter relay with a 1:52.48.
Aiden Lightfoot got fifth in the 1,600 with a 6:04.34.
Vaughn Thompson took second in the 110-meter hurdles with a 18.47 and third in the 300-meter hurdles. He along with Sill, Jacob Mattson, and Jaxson Bellecourt finished sixth in the 4×100 relay with 51.74.
Claxton, Steinbrink, Hausladen, and Rex James finished third in the 4×400 relay with a 4:18.48.
Alex Benck tied with Aiden Stith for third in the high jump with a 5-foot, 4-inch jump.
Mattson got third in the triple jump with a 34-foot, 3-inch jump.
GHEC/T/ML will have their next track meet Thursday, May 15 in Sleepy Eye in the Tomahawk-Valley Track and Field Championships.

LAKE CRYSTAL – Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin (MCW/B-O) took third in their track meet at Lake Crystal Thursday against Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial-Nicollet, Tri-City United, and Janesville Waldorf Pemberton
Lixon Forsberg finished fourth in the 100 meters with a 12.50, first in the long jump with a 17-foot, 11-inch jump, and first in the triple jump with a 36-foot, 11-inch jump. He along with Lucas Larson, Kale Larson, and Josh Roben took second in the 4×200 relay with a 1:39.46.
Josh Roben finished third in the triple jump with a 34-foot, 7-inch jump.
Berent (Bear) Kosbab got first in the 200 with a 22.55. He along with Kale Larson, Lucas Larson, and Josh Roben finished first in the 4×100 relay with a 45.96.
Hayden O’Connor and Conrad Gwin took second and third, respectively, in the 3,200 with a 13:56.08 and 14:19.60.
Cooper Roben finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a 57.40.
Josh Roben, Mason Menssen, Lucas Larson, and Kale Larson grabbed first in the 4×400 relay with a 3:50.15
Elliot Reynolds, Dominic Dietz, Brody Cook, and Hayden O’Connor got first in the 4×800 relay with a 10:40.60.
Barret School finished second in the shot put with a 43-foot throw.
Hank Olson got fourth in the discus with a 109-foot, 2-inch throw
Kale and Lucas Larson finished first and second in the high jump with jumps of 5-feet, 5 inches and 5 fee,t 2 inches, respectively.

Londyn Bowers finished first in the 100 with a 13.27 and second in the 200 meters with a 27.28. She along with Norah Chase, Ashley Singleton, and Lylah Becker took second in the 4×200 relay with a 1:59.12
Lynsie Salic got third in the shot put with a throw of 29 feet, 11.25 inches and third in the discus with a throw of 90 feet, 3 inches.
Kyla Benck tied for second in the high jump with a 4-foot, 4-inch jump.
GHEC/T/ML will have their next track meet Thursday May 15 in Sleepy Eye.

Ava Thate finished fourth in the 100 with a 13.72 and tied for third in the high jump with a 4-foot, 8-inch jump. She along with Tayavia Maokhamphio, Thea Larson, and Avery Sanders finished third in the 4×100 relay with a 57.63.
Evelynn Christenson took first in the 800 meters with a 2:37.97. She along with Callie Koerselman, Inga Olson, and Braelyn Borchardy finished second in the 4×400 relay with a 5:04.03
Katelynn Kennedy grabbed third in the 1600 meters with a 6:48.82. She along with Christenson, Olson, and Maddison Lyon finished third in the 4×800 relay with a 11:47.86.
Sophia Peterson got fifth in the discus with a 85-foot, 2-inch throw.
