Area Roundup: Fairmont takes 1st in Kwik Trip Holiday Tournament

FAIRMONT 66, JWP 59

MANKATO – The Fairmont Cardinals secured first place at the Kwik Trip Holiday Tournament at Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday with a 66-59 victory over Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton.

Leading the Cardinals was Oliver Tordsen with 18 points and five rebounds, while Logan Junkermeier had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Hadan Toomer had 9 points. Joe Long, Joseph Hackett and Harmon Schrunk each had 7 points.

BEA 67, SIBLEY EAST 58

BLUE EARTH – The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers won their home boys basketball tournament game against Sibley East 67-58 on Saturday.

Leading The Buccaneers was Gage Barker with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Will Bromeland had 16 points and seven rebounds. Branson Hauskins had 9 points and two rebounds, while Sully Dahlberg had 7 points and five rebounds.

ST. JAMES 71, MCW 61

WINDOM – The Martin County West Mavericks lost to St. James in the Windom Holiday Tournament on Saturday 71-61.

Kale Larson led the Mavericks with 15 points and six rebounds, while Jacob Wilmes added 19 points.

The Mavericks’ next game is on Jan. 6 against St. James.

BEA 75, USC 31

BLUE EARTH – The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers defeated United South Central 75-31 on Friday in their first game of a home boys basketball invite.

Leading the Buccaneers was Gage Barker with 21 points and four rebounds, while Will Bromeland had 18 points and four rebounds. Branson Hauskins had 17 points and three rebounds.

WINDOM 96, MCW 69

WINDOM – On Friday, the Martin County West Mavericks fell to Windom 96-69 in the Windom Holiday Tournament.

Josh Roben led the Mavericks with 18 points and seven rebounds, Jacob Wilmes had 20 points, and Chase Owens had 11 points and nine rebounds.
