Area roundup: Blue Earth Area edges out win over USC

BLUE EARTH – The Blue Earth Area girls tennis team defeated United South Central 4-3 in a nonconference tennis match on Monday.
Grace Hanson won her No. 1 singles match against Brylee Nuebauer 6-1, 6-4, while Addison Prescher lost her No. 2 singles match against Olivia Bungum 7-5, 1-6, 7-6. Abbey Lorenz won her No. 3 singles match against Lauren Hansen 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, while Abigail Greff lost her No. 3 singles match against Ivy O’Rourke 6-2, 6-2.
Carol Schrader and Erin Prescher lost their No. 1 doubles match against Addison Mithun and Maya Hansen 6-2, 6-3, while Grace Schavey and Brooklyn Rosenau won their No. 2 doubles match against Julianna Clore and Caitlin Rheingans 6-3, 6-2. Mckinley Hanson and Katelyn Storebeck won their No. 3 doubles match against Kylee Koziolek and Elise Hansen 6-1, 6-4.
BEA’s next match is against Maple River Tuesday.

MVL 3, BEA 2
BLUE EARTH – The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers fell to Minnesota Valley Lutheran in a nonconference volleyball match 16-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-16, 15-10 on Monday.
Leading the Buccaneers was Autumn Gordon with 15 kills and 15 digs, while Tailor Douglas had five kills and 17 digs. With them was Taylor Ripley, who had four kills, 10 assists and six digs, while Madison Ehrich had 20 assists and Sarah Dohm added a kill.
BEA’s next match is Tuesday at Fairmont.
BEA goes 2-4 in a girls varsity volleyball tournament
WELLS – The Blue Earth Area girls volleyball team secured a fourth place in a girls volleyball tournament defeating Blooming Prairie 25-18, 25-13, falling to Maple River on points 25-14, 16-25 and NHREG 25-17, 25-17. BEA defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 25-20, 25-23, while losing to United South Central 25-12, 25-13 and Granada-Huntley East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman 25-22, 25-19 on Saturday.
Autumn Gordon had 31 kills, 23 digs in the tournament, while Tailor Douglas had 14 kills and 32 and Anna Mwangi added 12 kills. Taylor Ripley had six kills, 33 assists and 21 digs, while Madison Ehrich had 27 assists and eight digs.
