ST. PETER — Fairmont qualified two to the state track and field meet after the first day of the Section 2AA Track and Field Championships at Gustavus Adolphus College.

In the girls 3,200-meter race, Fairmont junior Macy Hanson qualified for state with a third-place time of 11:04.49, passing the qualifying standard of 11:24.48. On the boys side, Fairmont’s Gage Borntrager qualified for state after taking first in the boys pole vault with a top vault of 12 feet, 8 inches.

Four boys final events and four girls final events took place Wednesday, with preliminary events also taking place. The final day of the section meet is Friday at Gustavus Adolphus College.
