Fairmont 15U girls hockey perfect at own invite

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont 15U girls hockey team earned another regular-season tournament crown by compiling a 4-0 record during last weekend’s Red, White & Ice Invite at Martin County Arena.

Lexi Haycraft generated two goals and two assists, while teammate Mariel Parish delivered two goals to help power Fairmont to a first-round 7-0 triumph over Central last Friday in Fairmont.

Alexis Sundeen recorded nine saves between the posts to pocket the shutout for Fairmont, while teammate Lauren Bettin netted one goal and dished out one assist.

Maya Earhart and Halyn Haycraft scored one goal apiece, while Kennedy Murphy, Joslyn Meyer and Carly Gustafson distributed one helper each to cap the opening win.

Lexi Haycraft tallied six points and Sundeen turned away eight shots on net for a second consecutive shutout as Fairmont drilled Cannon River by a 9-0 margin during second-round play last Saturday.

Lexi Haycraft unleashed a game-leading five goals, including a natural hat trick of three consecutive lamp lighters during the first frame, and doled out one assist to trigger the winning effort.

Halyn Haycraft contributed two goals and one assist to Fairmont’s rout, while Meyer and Parish supplied one goal and one helper each.

Harper Artz and Bettin each distributed two assists, while Gustafson dished out a set-up pass.

Lexi Haycraft lit the lamp once and doled out one assist, while Sundeen turned away 26 shots on goal to earn the shutout during Fairmont’s 3-0 third-round win over Armstrong-Cooper on Saturday.

Murphy and Gustafson chipped in one goal apiece to help propel Fairmont into the championship round.

Parish produced a game-best hat trick and Sundeen notched 13 saves to power Fairmont to an 8-1 triumph over Roseville/Mahtomedi on Sunday.

Halyn Haycraft found the twine twice with her shot and dished out two helpers, while Lexi Haycraft delivered one goal and one assist.

Gustafson and Artz completed the goal-scoring performance with one apiece, while Murphy, Meyer and Avery Kurt handed out one assist each.

Fairmont’s 15U girls hockey team (22-5-1) plays host to Edina at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at Martin County Arena before facing Bloomington at 11:30 a.m. Sunday in Fairmont.

12U Girls

The Fairmont 12U girls hockey lineup netted one tie and three losses during the Blazing Blades tournament last weekend at Blue Mound Ice Arena in Luverne.

GeminnieRose Lopez scored two goals to pace Fairmont’s 2-all tie with Willmar during opening-round action last Friday.

Fairmont netminder Nola Hazard turned away 34 shots between the pipes.

Mounds View/Irondale then skated to a 5-0 second-round win over Fairmont last Saturday.

Hazard recorded a game-leading 42 saves between the pipes for Fairmont.

Apple Valley/Burnsville coasted to a 7-1 third-round decision over Fairmont last Saturday.

Hayden Olson scored a goal off a Corinn Wells’ assist for Fairmont, while Hazard amassed an incredible 43 saves.

Woodbury then edged Fairmont, 3-2, during final-round action last Sunday.

Lopez accounted for both of Fairmont’s goals, while Nani Rosario doled out one assist.

Hazard generated 26 saves for Fairmont, which travels to Faribault on Saturday for an 11:30 a.m. game against Cannon River.

PeeWee ‘B’

Kane Wohlhuter collected a hat trick and dished out one helper to help engineer the Fairmont PeeWee ‘B’ hockey team’s 9-4 victory over Brandon, S.D., last Sunday in Sioux Falls.

Ryder Thate generated four points behind two goals and two assists for Fairmont, while Emmet Olson chalked up two goals and one helper.

Van Kollofski erupted for one twine-finding blast and distributed three assists, while Carter Spitzer lit the lamp once for Fairmont.

Kaleb Kennedy and Logan Droegemueller doled out one assist each, while netminder Blakeley Scholl notched 14 saves between the pipes in Fairmont’s winning performance.

The Fairmont PeeWee ‘B’ team plays host to Worthington at 5 p.m. Saturday at Martin County Arena in Fairmont.

10U Girls

Logyn Luhmann, Ellie Steuer and Kenzley Tietje each scored goals to help the Fairmont 10U girls hockey team salvage a 3-all tie against Rochester Red last Sunday in Rochester.

Mia Wiederhoeft and Trinity Thate combined between the pipes to handle Fairmont’s net-minding duties.

Fairmont 10U girls team plays host to Sioux Falls at 11 a.m. Saturday at Martin County Arena in Fairmont.

Bantams

The Fairmont Bantam ‘B’ hockey squad netted a tie, two losses and one win during last weekend’s Red, White & Ice Invite at Martin County Arena in Fairmont.

Preston Cepress generated a hat trick to help Fairmont salvage a 5-all opening-round tie with Sioux Falls Orange last Friday.

Preston Geerdes and Tyler Pankow delivered one goal apiece, while Noah Meixell, Caleb Meyer, Pankow, Geerdes and Cepress doled out one assist apiece for Fairmont.

Kolton Hinz recorded 11 stops between the pipes for Fairmont.

Cepress, Bryce Ihrke, Hunter Olson and Geerdes accounted for the goal-scoring duties as Fairmont lost a 5-4 second-round decision to Forest Lake last Saturday.

Meixell earned a playmaker by giving out three assists, while Caden Wickert and Cepress each dished out a helper.

Kaden Olson and Hinz combined in net to turn away 32 of 37 shots on goal.

Hopkins doubled the score, 4-2, on Fairmont during third-round play on Saturday.

Geerdes and Cepress netted one goal apiece, while Meixell and Ihrke passed out the helpers.

Kaden Olson and Hinz combined to make 15 saves between the pipes.

Cepress chalked up a game-best four goals to pace Fairmont’s 6-1 triumph over Sioux Falls Orange last Sunday.

Ihrke and Pankow chipped in one goal each for Fairmont, while Geerdes, Meixell, Ihrke and Meyer dished out one assist apiece.

Kaden Olson and Hinz shared goaltending duties and made 13 saves to earn the win.

The Fairmont Bantams open District 5 tournament action Friday, Feb. 16, in Litchfield.
