Williamson earns 200th career win during Bulls’ sweep
SHERBURN — Martin County Red Bulls head coach Adam Williamson reached the 200-win dual-meet plateau during his wrestling team’s triangular sweep on Thursday night in Sherburn.
The Red Bulls defeated Windom Area by a 41-28 decision, while downing Tri-City United by a 39-30 victory.
The Red Bulls fell behind early against Windom Area due to a pair of forfeits.
Pierce Rohman got the Red Bulls on the scoreboard with a 5-4 decision win over Preston Xayachak during 121-pound action.
Torrey Paplow added points for Martin County via a technical fall against Kameron Koerner in 5:22 at 133.
At 139 pounds, Red Bull grappler Evan Welcome defeated Damien Davison, 10-5.
Berent Kosbab took home a win via forfeit at 152 before teammates Luis Martin (160) and Taylor Austin (172) also received forfeits.
Hank Olson pinned John Bergman in 1:02 at 189 for Martin County before heavyweight Colby Schwichtenberg took home a forfeit to cement the Red Bulls’ win over Windom Area.
The Red Bulls also fell behind early against Tri-City United before Rohman righted the ship at 121.
Rohman pinned TCU’s Griffin Lemieux in 57 seconds to cut the deficit to 9-6 on the score sheet.
In 133-pound action, Paplow pinned Eli Viskocil in 3:37 to add six more team points for Martin County.
Maddex Faber joined the Red Bulls’ winning trend by pinning Cowen Bruzek in 44 seconds during 145-pound action.
Berent Kosbab delivered a 4-3 winning decision over Gavin Sherburn during 152-pound action to help the Red Bulls tie the team ledger at 21-each.
Taylor Austin pinned Tri-City United’s Lucas Filter in 57 seconds at 172 pounds to give the Red Bulls a lead that they would not relinquish.
In 182-pound action, Hank Olson extended the Red Bulls advantage with a pin on Alex Brock in 1:08.
A win via forfeit for 285-pounder Colby Schwichtenberg would cement the victory for the Red Bulls, 39-30.
Fairmont/Martin County West will compete in the Big South Conference Meet at 3 p.m. today in Jackson.
