Iowa state-ranked North Union hoopsters coast to victories

EAGLE GROVE, Iowa — Dan Fothergill and Aiden Lofstrom poured in double-figure scoring marks to power the Iowa Class 1A No. 8-ranked North Union Warriors to a 78-45 rout over the Eagle Grove Eagles during prep basketball action Tuesday night in Eagle Grove.
Fothergill topped all scorers with 22 points to complement distributing four assists, pocketing five steals and recording three blocked shots for the green-and-black attack.
Lofstrom netted 15 points and doled out three assists, while teammate Kody Irmiter neared double-double territory by scoring eight points to go with a game-best nine rebounds.
Preston Guerdet netted eight points and distributed six assists for North Union, Drew Henderson scored eight points and dished three helpers, while Kyan Jones collected six points and distributed a game-high seven assists.
The Warriors made 26 of 42 shots from 2-point range, 6 of 14 behind the 3-point arc and 8 of 10 at the free throw line.
North Union (17-2) plays host to Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Friday night in Armstrong in a Top of Iowa Conference game.

North Union 65, Eagle Grove 36 — Ainsley Ulrich continued her perimeter prowess by erupting for a game-leading 20 points to propel the Iowa Class 2A No. 14-ranked Warriors to a rout over the Eagles during girls basketball action Tuesday night in Eagle Grove, Iowa.
Ulrich snapped the nets on a game-high four 3-pointers to complement three assists, while teammate Naomi Jones nearly collected a double-double performance on the strength of 14 points and a game-best nine steals to go with four assists.
Libby Stevens produced 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals for the winning Warriors, while Olivia Merrill contributed 11 points and five rebounds to the victory.
The Warriors connected on 17 of 36 shots from 2-point distance, 8 of 21 from behind the 3-point arc and 7 of 12 at the charity stripe.
North Union (14-5) plays host to Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Friday night in Armstrong.

St. Peter 74, Blue Earth Area 54 — Tate Olsen connected for a game-best four 3-pointers en route to a game-leading 21 points to engineer the Saints’ 20-point victory over the Bucs during Big South Conference basketball action Tuesday night in St. Peter.
Joshua Bosacker scored 13 points, pulled down six rebounds and pocketed three steals to help St. Peter claim a win, while teammate Owen Potts dished out four assists.
Gage Barker knocked down three 3-pointers to pace his team-best 19-point performance for Blue Earth Area. Barker also doled out three assists.
Will Bromeland made three trifectas en route to an 11-point outing for the Bucs. Bromeland also grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
Sullivan Dahlberg generated eight points and five boards for Blue Earth Area, while teammate Taylor Davids tossed in eight points.
Max Loge doled out three assists for the Bucs, while Jacob Grandgenett helped spearhead the defensive effort by making three steals.
The Bucs connected on 10 of 25 attempts from 2-point distance, made 11 of 36 behind the 3-point arc and made just 1 of 1 at the free throw line.
Blue Earth Area plays host to Waseca on Friday night in another Big South Conference game.
