Area club hockey teams return to the ice

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Squirt ‘A’ hockey team outlasted Worthington during a high-scoring game, 9-7, Sunday in Worthington.
Levi Anderson and Cheston Aust each produced hat tricks for Fairmont, Jojo Lopez netted two goals, while Hudson Swenson chipped in one.
Fairmont netminder Higgins Sukalski turned away a dozen shots on goal to net the win.
Fairmont Squirt ‘A’ travels to Proctor for a three-day tournament starting Friday. Fairmont opens the event against International Falls at 7:45 p.m. Friday.

PeeWee ‘B’
The Fairmont PeeWee ‘B’ hockey squad went 1-2 overall during ice action on the road last weekend.
Worthington squeezed by Fairmont, 5-4, last Saturday in Worthington.
Kane Wohlhuter tallied two goals, while teammate Ryder Thate produced one goal and one assist for Fairmont.
Emmet Olson supplied one goal, Bennett Draper doled out one assist, while goalie Van Kollofski produced 20 saves.
Fairmont then split a doubleheader with Sioux Falls Orange last Sunday at Scheels IcePlex.
Wohlhuter recorded a hat trick, while Kollofski chalked up two goals and one assist to power Fairmont’s 7-4 Game 1 victory over Sioux Falls.
Carter Spitzer and Draper each contributed one goal, while Draper, Eli Meixell and William Egeness doled out assists.
Blakeley Scholl turned away 29 shots on net to notch the win for Fairmont.
Sioux Falls rebounded to slip past Fairmont in Game 2 by a 5-4 decision.
Wohlhuter erupted for a game-high four goals, with Thate distributing two assists. Johnnie Frerichs registered 29 saves between the pipes for Fairmont.
Fairmont PeeWee ‘B’ travels to Blue Mound Ice Arena on Saturday to face Luverne in a noon face-off.

15U Girls
Lexi Haycraft netted two goals and Mariel Parish contributed one goal and one assist to the Fairmont 15U girls hockey team’s 4-1 victory over Owatonna last Sunday in Owatonna.
Halyn Haycraft supplied one goal, while Carly Gustafson and Kennedy Murphy each distributed one helper to ignite Fairmont.
Alexis Sundeen recorded 16 saves between the pipes for Fairmont, which made 24 shots on goal.
Fairmont 15U (15-5-1) travels to Bloomington on Saturday for a 3:45 p.m. game against Bloomington, takes on the home team at Edina at 7:25 p.m. Saturday before playing host to Owatonna at 11:45 a.m. Sunday at Martin County Arena in Fairmont.

12U Girls
The Fairmont 12U girls hockey lineup netted a split decision during weekend action on the road.
Redwood Falls doubled Fairmont, 4-2, during last Saturday’s game in Redwood Falls.
Aspen Wickert and London Truesdell scored one goal apiece for Fairmont, while goaltender Nola Hazard amassed an incredible 49 saves.
GeminnieRose Lopez and Truesdell each netted hat tricks to engineer Fairmont’s 8-0 win over Windom last Sunday in Windom.
Truesdell also doled out two assists, while Corinn Wells and Paige Hartwig chipped in one goal each.
Hazard turned away just two shots on goal to earn the shutout.
Fairmont 12U travels to Blue Mound Ice Arena in Luverne on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. contest before hosting New Ulm/Sleepy Eye and Marshall in a split doubleheader at 10:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively, at Martin County Arena in Fairmont on Sunday.

10U Girls
The Fairmont 10U girls hockey lineup netted one tie and three losses during last weekend’s Rochester tournament.
Hopkins edged Fairmont, 4-2, last Friday in first-round action.
Alayna Kurt and Charlee Koenecke each produced a goal for Fairmont, while Mia Wiederhoeft and Trinity Thate combined to handle the goalkeeping duties.
Ellie Steuer scored a pair of goals to help Fairmont salvage a 3-all tie in second-round action with Rochester Black last Saturday.
Kenzley Tietje chipped in one goal for Fairmont, while Trinity Thate and Wiederhoeft combined to turn away 21 shots on net.
Alexandria slipped by Fairmont in third-round action, 6-4, last Saturday.
Logyn Luhmann netted two goals to top Fairmont’s effort, while McKinley Weedman and Tietje contributed one goal apiece.
Wiederhoeft and Thate equally combined for eight saves.
Princeton then eked out a 3-2 overtime shootout win over Fairmont last Sunday.
Luhmann generated both of Fairmont’s goals, while Wiederhoeft and Thate supplied a combined 10 stops between the pipes.
Fairmont 10U plays host to New Ulm/Sleepy Eye at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Martin County Arena in Fairmont.
