ST. PETER — The Martin County Area Magic utilized a 1-2-3 sweep off the vault table to squeeze out a narrow 131.275-131.1 Big South Conference dual gymnastics meet victory over the St. Peter Saints on Thursday night in St. Peter.

MCA’s youth movement of freshman Hannah Cole, eighth-grader Lillie Schultz and sophomore Nola Thedens captured the top three spots on the vault with a pair of Tsuks and a handspring-full, respectively. Cole won the individual event with a 9.35, Schultz nailed down runner-up accolades with a 9.025, while Thedens completed the dominant showing with an 8.825 effort.

Despite Laura Klatt, Trista Landsom and Addison Landsom netting first (34.125), third (33.75) and fifth (32.675), respectively, in the all-around competition, the hometown Saints fell by the most miniscule of point differentials.

Cole posted a second-place total of 34.075 points to top the Magic, Schultz garnered fourth place overall with a 32.95, while Thedens nailed down sixth in the all-around at 31.975. Jadyn Montgomery contributed 31.5 points overall to MCA’s win.

Cole captured second place behind Trista Landsom on the uneven parallel bars 8.7-8.325, while MCA’s Abi Chavez claimed fourth on the event with a 7.55.

Klatt won both the balance beam and the floor exercise for St. Peter, with Magic rivals Cole and Schultz not too far off the winning paces, respectively. Klatt took home the beam crown with an 8.45, with Cole and the Saints’ Addison Landsom sharing runner-up honors with 7.95s. Thedens tied Trista Landsom for third-place accolades on the beam at 7.675.

Klatt squeezed by Schultz for first place on the floor, 9.15-9.1, with Trista Landsom pocketing third with an 8.725. Thedens (8.575), Cole (8.45), Chavez (8.425) and Montgomery (8.3), however, delivered solid depth scoring for the Magic.

Martin County Area (6-1) plays host to Waseca on Tuesday night at Live Fit Sport & Wellness Center.
