Fox’s double-double effort guides Jaguars past Mavericks
NORTHROP — Carter Fox erupted for a double-double performance to help engineer the Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars’ 72-57 victory over the Martin County West Mavericks during Valley Conference basketball action Thursday night in Northrop.
Fox scored 18 points and pulled down a game-leading 13 rebounds to complement distributing four assists and blocking four opponents’ shots.
Freshman guard Eli Jensen collected a game-best and career-high 19 points to top the Jaguars’ offensive effort, while teammate Jackson Madsen contributed 14 points and hauled down six rebounds.
Carter Brudelie netted eight points for the Jaguars, who built a 43-38 advantage by intermission.
Kale Larson produced 17 points — all during the first 18 minutes of regulation — to pace Martin County West’s effort.
Hunter Schmidt contributed 15 points to the Mavericks’ scoring performance, while teammate Jacob Clarke chipped in eight points.
Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther (2-7) plays host to Nicollet in another conference game on Tuesday night in Northrop.
Martin County West (1-11) hits the road to Madelia on Tuesday night for another league contest.

Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 60, Blue Earth Area 20 — The Bulldogs collared the Bucs by 40 points during nonconference basketball action Thursday night in Janesville.
Lola Lundquist produced eight points and grabbed six rebounds to top the Bucs’ effort, while teammate Katherine Armon netted seven points and garnered four boards.
Blue Earth Area (1-9) plays host to Waseca on Friday, Jan. 12, in a Big South Conference game in Blue Earth.
