JACKSON — Martin County Area freshman Hannah Cole struck gold four times during her high school gymnastics debut.

Cole captured the all-around crown with a winning total of 33.85 points to power Martin County Area to a season-opening 128.775-122.475 dual-meet triumph over the Jackson County Central Huskies on Thursday night in Jackson.

Lillie Schultz and Abi Chavez contributed a third-place (31.35) showing and a fourth-place (31.275) finish, respectively, in the all-around competition to pack scoring punch for the Magic.

Ironically, Cole fended off her MCA teammates to strike gold on the vault, uneven parallel bars and balance beam in the Big South clash.

Cole produced a winning score of 9.075 on the vault, while Schultz and Chavez made the event a clean sweep by earning a tie for second place with a pair of 8.675s for the Magic.

Jadyn Montgomery chipped in an 8.525 for MCA on the vault, while Ava Thate — who scored 30.125 in the all-around — added an 8.4 off the table.

Cole squeezed by Chavez for top honors on the uneven bars, 7.6-7.4, respectively, with Montgomery claiming third-place accolades at 7.325. Schultz and Thate supplied a 6.7 and a 6.65, respectively.

Cole then outdueled Magic teammate Mollie Leiding for first place on the beam, 8.7-8.275, respectively. Chavez (7.5), Schultz (7.375) and Thate (7.225) rounded out MCA’s effort on the piece of equipment.

Romi Rosenbrook, who garnered second in the all-around for JCC with a 31.65, won the floor exercise with an 8.65 to edge Schultz’s runner-up total of 6.6.

Cole claimed third place on the floor with an 8.475, while Montgomery (8.025), Thate (7.85) and Chavez (7.7) completed the Magic’s winning ways.

Martin County Area (1-0) plays host to Marshall at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Live Fit Sport & Wellness Center in Fairmont.
