Lourdes shuts out Fairmont Area in girls soccer, 3-0
ROCHESTER — Rochester Lourdes senior striker Rose Otto netted a pair of goals and netminder Addison Lange delivered a shutout to engineer the Eagles’ 3-0 soccer victory over the Fairmont Area Cardinals on Saturday.
Otto scored the only goal of the first half of the nonconference clash at the Rochester Community and Technical College’s turf field before chipping in her second net-finding shot to open the second 40-minute segment.
Forward Becca Cook supplied an insurance goal during the second half to extend Rochester Lourdes’ advantage to three goals.
Lange turned away seven Fairmont Area shots on net to earn the victory between the posts for the Eagles.
Senior goalkeeper Madilyn Stromberg chalked up a game-leading 24 saves in net for the Cardinals.
Fairmont Area (2-8) plays host to New Ulm at 7 p.m. tonight at Kot Soccer Complex in Fairmont during a Big South contest.
Rochester Lourdes (4-0-2) hits the road to Cannon Falls on Thursday night for a match in Big Nine Conference action.
Lourdes downed Fairmont Area in junior varsity girls soccer, 5-1, Saturday in Rochester.
Grace Kotewa tallied the Cardinals’ lone goal off an assist from Addy Urban.
Fairmont Area’s junior varsity plays host to New Ulm at 5 p.m. today at Kot Soccer Complex.
