No. 8 Red Bulls sweep triangular; Williamson moves into No. 1 coaching spot

NICOLLET — The Class AA No. 8-ranked Martin County Red Bull wrestlers flattened Le Sueur-Henderson, 58-22, and Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Area, 59-15, on Thursday night to help Adam Williamson become the program’s all-time winningest coach.

Williamson improved his overall record to 185-34, surpassing former Fairmont mat mentor Tim Parker’s coaching milestone of 183 career dual-meet wins.

Pierce Rohman staked the Red Bulls to a quick 6-0 lead over LSH by recording the first of their four falls. Rohman earned the slap of the mat in 1:20 over Nate Lansing during 106-pound action.

Rylan Cutler, who’s ranked No. 8 at 120, moved to 126 to amass a technical fall in 5:24 over Waylon Thieke to trigger a string of seven straight wins for the Red Bulls.

Berent Kosbab received the first of four forfeits from LSH at 132 before Martin County teammates Riley Cole and Aden Welcome earned back-to-back pins. Cole flattened Mark Boisjolie at 138 in 1:53, while Welcome needed just 2:42 to down Luke Miller at 145.

Cooper Steuber took a forfeit at 152 before No. 3-ranked 160-pounder Carver Rohman disposed of Wyatt Genelin via a technical fall in 2:29 for the Red Bulls.

Gage Cyphers capped the Red Bulls’ winning streak by pinning Andy Genelin in 5:27 during 170-pound action.

Max Olson, who holds the No. 3 spot at 220, and Colby Schwichtenberg closed out the Red Bulls’ dual-meet win over LSH by receiving forfeits at 220 and heavyweight, respectively.

Pierce Rohman set the winning trend again by capturing a 7-2 decision over LCWM Area’s Ryder Antony during 106-pound action for the Red Bulls.

Torrey Paplow contributed an 11-1 major decision over Logan Quade during 113-pound mat action before Cutler notched a 14-2 major decision over Griffith Gimenez at the 126-pound spot in the lineup.

Cole, Welcome, Taylor Austin, Carver Rohman and Cyphers then assembled a five-fall winning streak for the Red Bulls to pull away on the team ledger.

Cole earned the slap of the mat in 3:52 over Talan Osborne at 138 pounds, Welcome pressed Ryan Palmer to his back in 3:13 at 145, Austin flattened Noah Sodeman in 1:19 at 152, Carver Rohman disposed of Austin Northquest in a mere 35 seconds during 160-pound action, while Cyphers needed just 3:23 to pin Brecken Northquest at 170.

David Miller took a forfeit at 195 for the Red Bulls, Olson required only 15 seconds to flatten Ryder McMichael at 220, while Schwichtenberg pinned Dietrich Rosin in 1:55 at the heavyweight spot.

The Red Bulls travel to Worthington tonight for a triangular with the host Trojans and Fulda/Murray County Central.
