Fairmont Squirt ‘B’ hockey nets back-to-back wins

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Squirt ‘B’ hockey team earned back-to-back victories over a pair of Marshall squads last weekend at Martin County Arena in Fairmont.

Van Kollofski amassed a game-leading total of eight points to power Fairmont to a 13-3 rout over Marshall Orange on Saturday.

Kollofski erupted for a game-best six goals and doled out two assists, while teammate Ryder Thate contributed a hat trick and two helpers to the winning performance.

Bennett Draper supplied two goals and one assist to Fairmont’s double-figure triumph, while Colton Schroeder and Cheston Aust chipped in one goal apiece.

Levi Anderson and Emmet Olson distributed two assists each, Hudson Swenson doled out one helper, while goaltender Blakeley Scholl made 10 saves to net the win over Orange.

Thate produced another hat trick and added a playmaker via three assists to steer Fairmont to a 10-0 shutout over Marshall White on Sunday.

Kollofski went between the pipes and recorded 15 saves to garner the win for Fairmont, while Draper unleashed two goals and two assists.

Eli Meixell, William Egeness, Swenson, Anderson and Aust each chipped in one goal, while Colin Schultze added an assist.

The Fairmont Squirt ‘B’ team (9-1) opens the River Lakes Stars tournament in Richmond against Duluth at 2:45 p.m. Saturday before facing Princeton at 5:45 p.m. Saturday. Details pertaining to Sunday’s third-round game will be determined.

Marshall edged the Fairmont 12U girls hockey team, 3-2, Sunday at Red Baron Arena in Marshall.

Lexi Haycraft produced two unassisted goals in the third period to trigger Fairmont’s late comeback bid.

Fairmont netminder Alexis Sundeen turned away 24 of Marshall’s shots on goal, while Fairmont managed just 10 shots on net.

Fairmont’s 12U girls hockey team (8-2) travels to Luverne on Saturday for a 5 p.m. game.
