Area volleyball teams seeded for section play

FAIRMONT — All four area volleyball teams learned their respective seedings and opponents for next week’s sectional tournaments.

The No. 9-seeded Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman Jaguars will face No. 8-seeded United South Central in a 7 p.m. Section 2A, South Sub-Section play-in match on Monday night in Wells.

No. 3-seeded Martin County West will play host to No. 6-seeded Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey in a 7 p.m. Section 2A, South Sub-Section quarterfinal on Thursday, Oct. 27, in Trimont.

No. 6-seeded Blue Earth Area will hit the road to No. 3-seeded Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial for a 7 p.m. Section 2AA, South Sub-Section quarterfinal on Thursday, Oct. 27.

No. 6-seeded Fairmont will square off against No. 3-seeded Windom Area at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in a Section 3AA, South Sub-Section quarterfinal in Windom.

North Union spikers advance to regional semifinals

ARMSTRONG — North Union eliminated Emmetsburg, 25-22, 17-25, 25-22, 25-23, during Iowa Class 2A, Region 1 quarterfinal volleyball action Wednesday night.

The Warriors (18-9) advance to face Western Christian (37-5) in a 7 p.m. regional semifinal Monday in Hull, Iowa.
