Sleepy Eye Public outspikes Jaguars, 3-1
SLEEPY EYE – The Sleepy Eye Public Indians outdueled the Truman/ Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain Jaguars, 3-1, during season-opening volleyball action Thursday night in Sleepy Eye.
Sleepy Eye fended off the Jaguars by respective game scores of 25-17, 20-25, 28-26, 27-25, in a down-to-the-wire non-league match.
Johnnie Zaharia smacked nine kills and completed 20 of 21 serves for three aces to pace the Jaguars’ performance.
London Bowers drilled a team-best 11 kills for the Jaguars, while teammate Gracie Zaharia supplied three blocks and connected on 12 of 12 serves for one ace.
Ella Nagorske distributed a team-best 18 set assists on the match for the Jaguars, while teammate Hayley Stensland doled out 11 set assists.
The Jaguars (0-1) hit the road to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Tuesday night in another nonconference match.
