Fairmont U18 girls soccer caps off summer

FAIRMONT — The Associate Optometry U18 girls soccer team of Fairmont closed out its summer campaign by netting a 1-1-1 mark during state tournament action last Friday through Sunday in St. Cloud.

Ellie Schultze converted an assist from Anna Utermarck into a goal and teammate Rayah Quiring cashed in a penalty kick to help Fairmont garner a 2-all tie with Club Deportivo Lobos in opening-round state play.

Goaltender Cadee Becker recorded 16 saves to help Associate Optometry salvage a tie last Friday.

Quiring produced a hat trick, while Emma Scheppmann contributed two goals to Fairmont’s 6-0 second-round state triumph over Hutchinson last Saturday.

Utermarck distributed two assists, Schultze tallied one goal, Carissa Saxton doled out one helper and Becker made eight saves to help pace the win.

Cambridge edged Fairmont in last Sunday’s third-round clash, 3-1. Elayna Anderson converted Bella Larson’s pass into a goal.

Associate Optometry kicked off the summer season with a 1-all tie with Mankato. Quiring converted a penalty kick into the equalizer for Fairmont, while Becker netted four saves between the pipes.

Utermarck and Quiring each collected two goals and one assist to help power Fairmont to a 9-2 victory over the Minnesota Rush of St. Charles during their second contest of the summer.

Schultze contributed two goals to the winning performance, while Scheppmann and Mackenzie Carlson each supplied a goal.

Kate Busche and Selma Bleess each distributed a helper, while netminder Madi Stromberg stopped six shots on goal to claim the win.

Becker later pitched a shutout on the strength of 12 stops, while Quiring cashed in Utermarck’s assist for the lone point in Fairmont’s 1-0 win over Owatonna.

Utermarck then erupted for three goals and one assist to steer Associate Optometry to a 7-1 triumph over Northfield.

Scheppmann produced two goals, Schultze and Bleess chipped in one net-finding shot each, while Kate Busche doled out three assists.

Becker made three first-half saves in goal before distributing an assist in the second segment, while Saxton posted five stops in the second half.

Minnesota Rush of St. Charles topped Fairmont, 6-2, during Associate Optometry’s fifth match of the summer. Quiring doled out assists to Schultze and Scheppmann, while Becker notched 17 saves.

Quiring & Co. bounced back in the following game by netting a 3-1 victory over Waseca. Quiring netted two goals and an assist, Elayna Anderson scored once, Utermarck doled out assist, while Becker generated 22 saves to earn the decision.

Quiring continued her torrid scoring ways by erupting for a game-best five goals to power Fairmont to a 7-1 victory over New Prague.

Schultze chipped in a goal and an assist, Kate Busche tallied a goal, while Scheppmann, Saxton doled out an assist and Becker chalked up nine saves in the win.

Quiring generated a hat trick and two assists to help engineer Fairmont’s 7-3 win over Owatonna. Scheppmann contributed two goals to the effort, while Schultze collected one goal and dished out two assists.

Elayna Anderson provided a net-finding shot, while Saxton, Kate Busche and Bleess each distributed one assist. Becker chalked up 14 saves in the winning decision.

Fairmont closed out the pre-state schedule by shutting out the Minnesota Rush of St. Charles, 3-0, before losing a 3-2 decision to St. Peter.

Scheppmann, Bleess and Schultze netted one goal apiece in the win, while Anderson, Kate Busche and Quiring doled out one helper each. Becker generated five saves to earn the shutout.

Schultze scored both of Fairmont’s goals against St. Peter, while Becker amassed 21 saves.

U10 Boys Division

Edward D. Jones Maroon 3, Seifried Portrait Royal Blue 2 — Cole Hanson kicked home two goals, while teammate Ben Roper delivered one goal and one assist to steer Maroon to a one-goal win on Monday.

Colin Schultze and Ryker Morgan accounted for Royal Blue’s pair of goals on the game.

Taco John’s Red 7, Fairmont Police Officers Association Blue 2 — Drew Swanson produced a hat trick to pace Red’s five-goal margin of victory on Monday.

Daniel Sanchez generated two goals for Taco John’s, while Leander Nelson and Henry Schwieger each supplied one net-finding shot in the winning performance.

Clark Lundquist and Tyler Goerndt each notched a goal for Blue, while Parker Olsen and Kolton Gerhardt doled out assists.

Fairmont Roofing Lime 10, Loxley Coffee Silver 1 — Kalen Wickert generated three goals to steer Lime to a nine-goal win over Silver on Monday.

Hudson Clayton and Evan Wubbena produced two goals each, while teammates Jezer Garcia Estrada, Abel Thompson and Dominic Sietsema added one goal each.

Ben Thompson converted Bentley Rasche’s pass into Silver’s lone goal.

U10 Girls Division

Car Parts Direct Lime 6, Hair Etc. Atomic Blue 4 — Ella Swanson blistered the twine with five goals, while Amelia Sidles chipped in one net-finder to help Lime outduel Atomic Blue, 6-4, on Monday.

Lila Klunder dished out two assists for Car Parts Direct, while Emery Gullord and Emma Pierson supplied one assist each.

Raegan Olson netted two goals to top Hair Etc., while Julia Reyelts and Heather Peterson produced one goal each.

Saxton Farms Grey 4, Clancey Chiropractic Pink 1 — Jocelyn Ferguson found the back of the net twice to power Grey past Pink on Monday.

Logyn Luhmann and Natalie Jorgensen scored one goal apiece, while Carolie Ramos Lopez doled out a helper.

Addison Meyeraan scored Pink’s only goal.

U14 Boys Division

Northfield 4, Midwest Seamless Gutters of Fairmont 1 –Raphael Becerra Martinez made 11 saves, while Caleb Meyer cashed in a Brody Deuer assist for Fairmont’s only goal on July 11.

U12 Girls Division

Owatonna 4, Altenburg Construction of Fairmont 1 — Lucy Koch tallied eight saves and Geminnie Lopez notched an unassisted goal during Fairmont’s loss on July 13.
