SWEA CITY -- Ace right-hander Emily Meyer fired a one-hit shutout to propel the Iowa Class AA No. 6-ranked North Union Warriors to a 10-0 run-rule softball victory over the Belmond-Klemme Broncos on Wednesday night in Belmond, Iowa.
Meyer recorded a game-best 10 strikeouts without issuing a walk in five innings of work to earn the complete-game victory.
Meyer also assisted her own cause from the batter's box by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Cassie Beadle went 2-for-2 and scored four runs for the Warriors, while teammate Shelby Fraker went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Ella Ulrich contributed a triple and one RBI to North Union's winning ways, while Maggie Engelby smacked a double to produce one RBI.
Sam Nielsen and Naomi Jones each produced similar statistics for a Warriors' batting order that pounded out 10 hits on the night.
Nielsen went 1-for-3 with one RBI and a run scored, while Jones went 1-for-2 with an RBI single.
North Union (6-0) plays host to Bishop Garrigan of Algona, with a 6 p.m. starting time on Friday night in Swea City.
