ST. PAUL — Bond, Lucie Bond.

Bond added a game-best eight points — six goals and two assists — to her state-leading seasonal total to power Minnehaha United to a 9-1 triumph over the Fairmont Area Cardinals during hockey action Saturday at Drake Arena in St. Paul.

Bond, who tops the Minnesota prep girls hockey ranks in both points (38) and goals (23) to complement her No. 4 assist mark (15), generated a natural hat trick to open the game and stake United to a 3-0 lead.

Bond reeled off three consecutive goals, with the initial net-finding blast coming 5:21 into the contest. Heidi Deuel delivered the assist. Minnehaha’s high-octane senior center then reached the webbing off back-to-back assists from Aurelia Meza at the 11:23 juncture and off the first of two assists by Charlotte Goings at 12:55. Bond’s second goal was a short-handed effort.

Goings then got going offensively by producing an unassisted short-handed goal at the 15:01 mark before Bond lit the lamp for a fourth time during the first 17-minute period off one of Veronica Anderson’s three helpers on the game.

Sutton Ehlen then scored with only 3 seconds remaining in the initial segment to extend United’s margin to 6-0.

Bond and Lauren Frenkel then turned their thoughts to passing by combining on a double-assist to set up Zoe Berthiaume’s second-period goal at the 15:58 mark.

Bond then bookended Fairmont Area’s only goal of the game during the third period. The Cardinals’ Macy Militello denied United goalkeeper Greta Magnuson a shutout by finding the twine off an assist from Jozie Hoefker 6:47 into the final frame.

Bond chipped in a power-play goal off an Anderson assist to open the final period at the 6:18 juncture before closing out the point production with a goal off a double-assist from Anderson and Ehlen at the 15:45 mark.

Fairmont Area netminder Hadley Artz and Minnehaha’s Magnuson each produced 22 saves on the game, with United outshooting the Cardinals by a 31-23 margin.

Fairmont Area (2-5-1) plays host to Worthington at 7 p.m. Tuesday night, while Minnehaha United (8-2) travels to Simley on Tuesday night.
