Schiltz, Fothergill hit 3s to guide North Union to season-opening win

ARMSTRONG — Nick Schiltz and Teagon Fothergill combined to knock down six 3-pointers in pacing a balanced scoring attack to guide the North Union Warriors to a season-opening 66-54 basketball victory over the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines on Monday night.

Schiltz connected on three trifectas to pace his team-best 17-point performance, while Teagon Fothergill also dialed long distance three times en route to an 11-point effort.

The Warriors scorched the Armstrong gymnasium nets on 8 of 20 attempts behind the 3-point arc for 40 percent.

Schiltz also distributed three assists and pulled down three rebounds, while Teagon Fothergill pocketed three steals and grabbed three boards.

Logan Odegaard supplied 13 points for North Union, while Aiden Lofstrom contributed nine points and three rebounds.

Jay Heinen led the Warriors with four rebounds, while Danyal Fothergill distributed four assists and grabbed three caroms.

Kyan Jones doled out four assists, while Aiden Fries added three steals, three assists and three boards for the home team.

The Warriors made 18 of 34 shots from 2-point range for 52.9 percent, but sank just 6 of 23 free throws on the night.

North Union (1-0) plays host to North Iowa in a 7:30 p.m. Top of Iowa Conference game Friday night in Armstrong.
