JV grid team posts victory

FAIRMONT — Blaze Geiger and Brendan Schmidtke each passed for one touchdown and ran for another score to pace Fairmont’s 28-16 win over St. Peter during junior varsity football action Monday in St. Peter.

Cooper Steuber and Mathew Cone each caught a scoring pass for the Cardinals.

Fairmont (2-0) plays host to Jordan on Monday.

B-team spikes out 2-1 triumph

FAIRMONT — Bre Steuber cranked six kills, went 5 of 6 serving and tallied three blocks to help guide Fairmont to a 25-14, 12-25, 15-8 win over Blue Earth Area during B-squad volleyball action Tuesday night.

Mariah Moeller, Cassie King and Rylyn Larsen each collected five digs for the Cardinals, while Gabby Leiding and Brylee Miller supplied four digs apiece.

Fairmont plays host to Worthington tonight.

C-squad nets loss in contest

FAIRMONT — Blue Earth Area edged Fairmont, 25-8, 16-25, 17-15, in C-squad volleyball action Tuesday night in Blue Earth.

Abi Sundeen served three aces and notched two blocks for the Cardinals, Ilana Moeller smacked two kills, while Cadence Leiding doled out three passes.

Fairmont plays host to Worthington tonight.

Hanson sinks a hole-in-one

FAIRMONT — Greg Hanson, a former Fairmont High School athletic standout, connected for a hole-in-one at Rose Lake Golf Course outside of Fairmont on Monday.

Hanson used a 9-iron to reach the 135-yard seventh hole in one swing.

Kevin Hanson witnessed the ace.
