Jaguars’ Wolter closes sectional golf meet in 25th place

MANKATO -- Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther's Owen Wolter, Madelia's Colin Wihlm and Blackhawk teammate Colby Wihlm closed out their 2020 prep golf seasons during Round 2 of the Section 2A Meet on Monday in Mankato.

Wolter, who earned all-Valley Conference honors and made the sectional's first-round cut during his abbreviated appearances in the fairways, penciled in a 49-45-94 at North Links Golf Course on Monday.

Wolter, who played baseball for the Jaguars for the majority of the spring, connected for a rare eagle on the par-5 No. 13 hole to highlight his second-round effort. Wolter also made pars on Nos. 1, 9 and 10.

The Jaguar senior golfer finished with a two-round total of 96-94-190 to net a tie for 25th place overall in sectional play.

Colin Wihlm generated five pars to highlight his second-round total of 45-46-91 at North Links Golf Course on Monday. Colin Wihlm closed with a two-day total of 94-91-185 to claim 19th place outright.

Colby Wihlm sank four pars to pace his second-round mark of 50-44-94 during Monday's final competition. Colby Wihlm carded a 92-94-186 to finish in 20th place overall.

Sleepy Eye United's Carson Erickson captured the Section 2 individual championship by firing a 3-over 40-35-75 during Monday's final round to close with a total of 151.

Erickson, who connected for two birdies and 11 pars during Day 2 action, also guided Sleepy Eye United to the sectional team crown with a two-round score of 633 -- 49 shots better than runner-up Springfield.
