Gudahls power Blue Earth Area golf teams to twin wins

ELMORE — Braden Gudahl and his Blue Earth Area Buc golf teammates continued their low-scoring ways Tuesday by breezing to a 40-stroke victory over the Martin County West Mavericks at Minn-Iowa Golf Course.

Gudahl connected for a dual-meet best seven pars to pace his nine-hole medalist round of 2-over 38 to guide the Bucs to a 164-204 triumph over the Mavericks in Elmore.

MCW’s Hunter Schmidt and BEA’s Ashton Lloyd shared runner-up medalist honors by firing a pair of 40s. Schmidt birdied the par-4 second hole and the par-5 sixth hole to complement three pars to fuel his round. Lloyd drained a birdie putt on No. 1 and made four pars to highlight his effort.

Manning Lane penciled in a 42 to finish fourth overall for BEA. Lane connected for a birdie on the eighth hole to go with one par. Gavin Storbeck and Max Ehrich rounded out the Bucs’ counting marks with a pair of 44s. Storbeck delivered a birdie on No. 4 and sank one par, while Ehrich notched four pars on the day.

Nathan Murphy completed BEA’s winning effort by netting seventh place overall with a 45, including a birdie on No. 2 and one par.

Connor Simmonds carded a round of 50 for MCW, while teammates Carter Lyon and Andrew Lawrence each shot 57s. Lyon made one par. Evan Roben completed the Mavericks’ effort with a 64.

Blue Earth Area plays host to Fairmont, Albert Lea and United South Central at 9 a.m. Saturday at Minn-Iowa Golf Course in Elmore. Martin County West travels to Madelia on Friday.

Blue Earth Area 220, Martin County West 314 (Girls) — Payten Gudahl captured medalist honors to guide the Bucs to a top-six individual sweep in defeating the Mavericks by 94 shots in a nonconference meet Tuesday at Minn-Iowa Golf Course.

Gudahl placed first with a nine-hole mark of 48, including one par, while Rylan Storbeck carded a 53 to earn runner-up medalist honors for the Bucs.

Kyle Rosenau claimed third overall by firing a 58 for BEA, while Katelyn Storbeck and Lyndsey Borris completed the counting scores with a pair of 61s.

Jordon Smith capped the Bucs’ effort with a 62.

Shanna Amborn led the Mavericks with a 73 to garner seventh place individually, while teammate Brenna Heifner chipped in a 75. Kaylea Haggerty and Lucy Larson completed MCW’s counting marks with an 82 and an 84, respectively.

Lilly Krogman (92) and Ariel Freeman (105) capped the Mavericks’ effort.

North Union 200, Lake Mills 251, Noth Iowa incomplete (Girls) — Vanessa Von Bank hit the medalist score of 46 to lead the Warriors to a triangular win Tuesday at Country Greens Golf Course in Armstrong.

Vanessa Von Bank made two pars, while teammate Jordyn Cummins connected for one par to help create her runner-up score of 51.

Halle Rezac placed third overall for the Warriors with a 51, while Olivia Von Bank drained one par to lead the her 52 for the final North Union counting score.

Carys Fuller added a 58 for the Warriors, while Amelia Fothergill added a 64.

North Union plays host to Algona and West Bend-Mallard on Friday at Country Greens in Armstrong.

Lake Mills 170, North Union 175, North Iowa 194 (Boys) — Bennett Berger fired a medalist round of 39 to guide the Bulldogs to the triangular win on Tuesday at Country Greens in Armstrong.

Teagon Fothergill led the Warriors with a nine-hole score of 43. Fothergill carded three pars to build his score, while Parker Eichenberger hit two pars for his total of 44. Chase Cummings hit two pars for his 44, while Gage Madden connected on four pars for his 44 for the final Warriors’ counting score.

Nick Schiltz added a 46 for the Warriors, while Tanner Boever shot a 53.

North Union travels to West Bend, Iowa, Friday to face host West Bend-Mallard and Algona.

St. Clair/Loyola 175, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 188, Madelia 189, Alden-Conger 192, LCWM/ Nicollet 194, Truman/GHEC/Martin Luther 214 (Boys) — Madelia’s Colin Wihlm birdied the par-4 fourth hole and connected on five pars to build his medalist score of 39 at Terrace View Golf Course in Mankato on Tuesday.

Colby Wihlm birdied the par-5 sixth hole and added two pars to build his total of 48, while Collin Tierney had three pars and shot a 48 for Madelia.

Luke Stensrud recorded the final Blackhawk counting score of 54, while Josiah DeMaris and Noah Tierney both shot 60s for Madelia.

Louis Bowers led the Jaguars with a 50, while Colby Brudelie shot a 51. Jake Fisher connected for a 52 and Lance Stevens shot a 61 for the Jaguars’ final counting score.

Wyatt Luhman and Zach Flohrs both shot 64 for the Jaguars.

Madelia hits the road to Janesville on Thursday, while the Jaguars travel to Oakview Golf Course to face Alden-Conger on Thursday.

Madelia 243, Alden-Conger, JWP, LCWM/Nicollet, Truman/ GHEC/Martin Luther incomplete (Girls) — Savannah Wyman’s nine-hole score of 55 led the Blackhawks to a team win Tuesday at Terrace View Golf Course in Madelia as the lone team with four competitors.

Katherine DeVlaeminck carded a 57 with one par, while Katie Bocock recorded a score of 65. Genesis Robles-Moran shot a 66 for the Blackhawks’ final counting score.

Tessa Johnson led the Jaguars with a score of 56, while Amber Steen carded a 62.

Madelia hits the road to face Janesville on Thursday, while the Jaguars travel to Oakview Golf Course in Freeborn for a matchup with Alden-Conger on Thursday.
