B.E. Area golfers singe course in sweeping triangular

WINDOM — The Blue Earth Area Bucs boys golf lineup scorched the Windom Country Club course during Friday’s triangular competition.

Braden Gudahl and Manning Lane each penciled in under-par nine-hole totals, Ashton Lloyd shot an even-par round and Blue Earth Area swept the top five individual spots to card a winning team score of 143.

Host Windom Area finished 30 strokes back at 173, while Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey placed third at 235.

Gudahl blistered the par-36 course by producing a 3-under 33 to capture meet medalist honors for the Bucs. Gudahl connected for birdies on the par-4 first hole, the par-5 third cup and the par-4 ninth hole to complement a triangular-best six pars.

Lane netted runner-up medalist accolades by firing a 1-under round of 35. Lane delivered a meet-best four birdies — Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 9 — to go with two pars for BEA.

Lloyd drained bookend birdies on Nos. 1 and 9 to highlight his even-par 36 to nail down third place individually for the Bucs. Lloyd also made five pars on the day.

Nathan Murphy rounded out BEA’s counting scores by generating a 3-over 39, including five pars and a birdie on the fifth hole.

Gavin Storbeck claimed fifth place overall for the Bucs, while Max Ehrich contributed a ninth-place showing. Storbeck shot a 4-over 40, including five pars, while Ehrich fired a 45, highlighted by three pars on the day.

Blue Earth Area and Windom Area tee off at 9:30 a.m. today in the Cardinal Invitational at Interlaken Golf Course in Fairmont.

Girls Golf

Blue Earth Area 216, Windom Area and MLA/ Comfrey incomplete — Allie Ward carded a nine-hole medalist mark of 43 to top the host Eagles’ three-golfer effort, while Kylie Rosenau netted runner-up individual accolades with a 50 to pace the Bucs’ winning team total during triangular action Friday in Windom.

Olivia Christians garnered third place individually by shooting a 53 as MLA/Comfrey’s only golfer hitting the Windom Country Club course.

Rosenau connected for two pars to pace her team-leading pace for BEA, while Rylan Storbeck made par once to place fourth overall with a 54 for the Bucs.

Katelyn Storbeck and Payten Gudahl completed BEA’s counting scores by generating nine-hole totals of 56 to share fifth place overall. Katelyn Storbeck produced two pars, while Gudahl netted one par.

Delanie Bruellman and Lyndsey Borris tied for seventh place overall by carding a pair of 58s.

Blue Earth Area and Windom Area compete in the Cardinal Invitational at 9:30 a.m. today at Rose Lake Golf Course in Fairmont.
