B.E. Area tennis team wins 4th dual meet in a row

BLUE EARTH — The Blue Earth Area Bucs boys tennis lineup captured its fourth consecutive dual-meet victory on Tuesday.

Blue Earth Area claimed three wins in the singles bracket to help power a 4-3 Big South Conference triumph over the St. Peter Saints at Hal Schroeder Courts in Blue Earth.

Nick Frundt used a tiebreaker to take a 7-6 (7-2) first-set win over Marty Anderson at second singles before powering through for a 6-1 second-set victory for the hometown Bucs.

James Greer eased to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Will Elias at third singles, while Jamie Johnson claimed matching 6-1 sets to beat Colton Abels at fourth singles for Blue Earth Area.

The Bucs’ second doubles tandem of Jerry Passe and Seth Stevermer claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win over Konrad Wernsing and Chase Yeager to help pace the one-point margin of victory.

Kelson Lund claimed St. Peter’s lone singles win with a 4-6, 6-4, (10-6) win over Vern Johnson at first singles.

Tyson Schmitz and Anders Dixon earned the Saints a team point at first doubles when they took a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Joe Frundt and Devin Haase, while St. Peter’s Cooper Dean and Wesley Yang earned a 7-5, 4-6, (10-3) decision over Calvin Farrow and Brady Lorenz at third doubles.

Blue Earth Area (4-1) travels to New Ulm for a Big South Conference meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
