Segar, Bachenberg power MCA gymnasts to 8th win in a row

WASECA — Martin County Area senior standout Sabrina Segar swept all four individual events to capture the all-around crown to power the Martin County Area Magic to a Big South Conference gymnastics win over Waseca on Thursday night.

The Magic earned their eighth consecutive dual-meet win with a 133.025-124.35 victory over the Bluejays.

Segar won the all-around with a point total of 35.5, while MCA teammate Anna Bachenberg earned second overall with a 33.9.

Waseca took the next two all-around spots with Camryn Lynch scoring a 31.7 and Jordan Hofmeister recording a 31.15.

Segar posted a score of 9.175 on the vault to take first, then generated an 8.275 for first on the unevens. Segar continued her sweep with a 9.075 on the beam and an 8.975 on the floor.

Bachenberg took second in three of the four events, scoring an 8.9 in the vault, 8.925 on the beam and 8.875 on the floor. She also added a fourth-place finish on the unevens with a 7.2.

Lynch used two third-place finishes to help her all-around total, taking third with an 8.7 on the vault and a 7.425 on the bars. Hofmeister tied with MCA’s Anna Utermarck for third on the beam (7.95), while adding a third-place finish on the floor (8.35).

The Magic’s Hailee Schuett finished second place on the unevens with a score of 7.5 and placed fourth on the beam at 7.775.

Waseca’s Sarah Kummerfeldt took fourth on the floor with an 8.3 and Brooklyn Flatau finished fourth on the vault at 8.625.

Martin County Area (8-1) plays host to Waseca in the second half of a home-and-away series at 6 p.m. Monday at Live Fit Sport & Wellness Center in Fairmont.
