No. 3 Red Bulls grapple to pair of victories

MARSHALL — The Class AA No. 3-ranked Martin County Red Bulls continued their triangular-sweeping ways.

Martin County won every match to build an 80-0 win over St. James Area, then earned a 47-15 win over Big South Conference rival the Marshall Tigers.

Rylan Cutler started the dual with Marshall with a 9-1 major decision against 106-pound opponent Brayden Ust, then Cooper Steuber worked to a 5-4 decision over Drew Chandler to put the Red Bulls up 7-0.

The Red Bulls’ Class AA No. 9-ranked 120-pounder Jesse Potts then built a 12-7 decision over Brett Regnier before No. 1-ranked 126-pounder Jaxson Rohman pinned Christian Vlaminck in 2:30 to put the Red Bulls up 16-0.

Marshall’s No. 5-ranked 132-pounder Dylan Louwagie then earned the Tigers’ first points of the dual with a pin of No. 8-ranked Kain Sanders in 5:17, but Martin County’s No. 3-ranked 138-pounder Lucas Jagodzinske worked a 6-5 decision over the No. 9-ranked 138-pound Tate Condezo to put the Red Bulls back on track.

Aden Welcome took an 18-8 major decision over Josh Kraft to earn Martin County four points at 145 pounds, then the Red Bulls’ No. 2-ranked 145-pounder Connor Simmonds moved up to 152 to pin Lucas Stelter in 2:56.

Carver Rohman earned a 16-6 major decision over 160-pound opponent Tucker Fiene, then the Red Bulls’ No. 4-ranked 160-pounder Blake Jagodzinske moved up to 170 pounds and pinned Mitchell Bouwman in 1:16.

Martin County’s Gage Cyphers earned a 4-0 decision over 182-pound opponent Kaiden Otto, before Marshall’s No. 2-ranked 195-pounder Spencer Wambeke took an 8-6 decision over Max Olson.

The Tigers’ No. 5-ranked 220-pounder Grant Louwagie then pinned Tristan Peterson in 32 seconds before Martin County’s Alec Thompson pinned 285-pound competitor Keiton Walerius in 2:46.

Against the Saints, the Red Bulls pinned six opponents, forced a technical fall and a decision, and took six forfeits.

Potts pinned Levi Miest in 1:04 at 120, Lucas Jagodzinske pinned David Rathman in 1:25 at 138, Welcome pinned Cesar Olivares in 4:58 at 145 and Carver Rohman pinned Hayden Davis in 1:11 at 160. Wyatt Williamson added a pin of Derek Fast in 1:59 at 195 pounds and Thompson needed only 4:19 to pin Julio Esqueda at 285 pounds.

Jaxson Rohman forced a technical fall in 2:25 against Gadiel Velasco at 126 pounds and Steuber earned a 5-0 decision over Kollin Anderson at 113.

Cutler (106), Sanders (132), Simmonds (152), Blake Jagodzinske (170), Cyphers (182) and Olson (220) all took forfeits.

Martin County (19-1) goes to St. Peter for a triangular against St. Peter and Pipestone Area on Tuesday.
