8th-grade traveling team drops weekend games

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Cardinals eighth-grade girls basketball traveling team lost two weekend games in Austin.

Stewartville downed Fairmont, 31-21. Ellie Ortega netted 12 points to top the Cardinals, Brylee Miller scored five, while Meredith Nemmers chipped in four points.

Tri-City United defeated Fairmont, 35-26. Nemmers tossed in 12 points, Ortega collected six, while Kennedy Becker added four.

Fairmont competes at Blooming Jefferson next weekend.

Softball signup, meeting Sunday

FAIRMONT — A registration meeting for Cardinal Power summer girls fastpitch softball will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at the Fairmont High School gymnasium.

Online registration begins Wednesday at: cardinalpower.club.

Cardinal Power will feature teams for ages 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U.

Baseball signup starts Sunday

FAIRMONT — Registration for the 2021 Fairmont baseball summer leagues starts Feb. 21 and runs until Sunday, March 7.

Players can register for the Fairmont Baseball Association’s summer I-90 League, minor (grades 4&5), junior (grades 6&7), pony (grades 8&9), junior Martins traveling, VFW and American Legion teams.
