Von Bank pours in 26 to ignite Warriors’ win

BELMOND, Iowa — Vanessa Von Bank dialed long distance to generate a game-leading 26 points to power the North Union Warriors to a 56-53 Top of Iowa Conference basketball victory over the Belmond-Klemme Broncos on Tuesday night.

Von Bank connected for a game-high seven 3-pointers to highlight her offensive performance. The senior guard also pocketed six steals.

Cassie Beadle scored 10 points, dished four assists, and recorded six steals for the Warriors, while teammate Sam Nielsen grabbed a team-best six boards and dished three assists.

Olivia Von Bank stuffed the box score with seven points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals for North Union, while teammate Lily Henderson contributed five points, three assists and four steals.

North Union (11-5) plays host to Iowa Class 1A No. 1-ranked Bishop Garrigan of Algona on Friday night at 6:15 p.m. in Armstrong.

Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 63, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 37– The Jaguars collared the Bulldogs 63-37 in Valley Conference action Tuesday night in Granada.

Katelyn Diegnau led the Jaguars by scoring 19 points and grabbing five rebounds.

Emma Johnson scored 14 points for the Bulldogs, but that was not enough for the overall effort from the Jaguars.

The Jaguars shot 22 of 58 from the field, 2 of 3 from behind the 3-point line amd 17 of 29 from the free-throw line.

Eden Studer and Emily Stauter both scored nine points, while Brooke Grathwohl and Kylee Bentz both secured four rebounds.

The Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars (2-1) play host to Cleveland on Thursday night in Granada.

Mankato Loyola 54, Martin County West 51 — The Mankato Loyola Crusaders defeated the Martin County West Mavericks 54-51 during Valley Conference action Tuesday night in Trimont.

Kolton Kunz led the Crusaders by scoring 15 points and Simon Morgan added 13 points in the winning performance.

Tanner Sinn produced a double-double performance of 11 points and 10 rebounds to help pace the Mavericks.

Mitch Weber scored 11 points and Zach Anderson also scored 11 points while grabbing seven rebounds, dishing three assists and recorded three steals.

Owen Runkle and Christian Bachenberg each scored nine points for MCW, while Bachenberg dished out four assists.

The Martin County West Mavericks (0-4) face Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Friday night for a 7:15 p.m. game with the Bulldogs in Janesville.
