LUVERNE — The Class AA No. 4-ranked Martin County Red Bulls dominated Redwood River Valley (58-24) and Luverne (66-3) during Big South Conference wrestling action Tuesday night in Luverne.

The Red Bulls combined 12 pins and eight forfeits to secure their wins in the triangular.

The Red Bulls dominated Luverne, with the hometown Cardinals’ only team points coming at the 120-pound weight class. Riley Cowell scored a 12-8 decision against Jesse Potts earning three points for Luverne.

The Red Bulls would receive a forfeit at 132 before Kain Sanders regained the Red Bulls’ pinning success. The Class AA, No. 8-ranked Sanders pinned Shaun Swenson Jr. in 42 seconds during 138-pound action.

No. 1-ranked 138-pounder Lucas Jagodzinske followed in Sanders’ steps. Jagodzinske pinned Luverne’s Zach Bradley in 49 seconds to give the Red Bulls a commanding 30-3 team lead. No. 2-ranked 145-pounder Connor Simmonds added a pin and so did No. 5-ranked 152-pounder Blake Jagodzinske to give the Red Bulls a 48-3 lead. The meet would finish with four forfeits and a double forfeit.

Against Redwood River Valley, the Red Bulls gave up 12 quick points due to forfeits. The Red Bulls started their rally behind Jesse Potts in the 120 weight class when he pinned RRV’s Lincoln Ourada in 32 seconds. Sanders and Aden Welcome added pins to give the Red Bulls a 24-12 lead.

Lucas Jagodzinske received a forfeit, followed by falls by Simmonds and Blake Jagodzinske against RRV.

Carver Rohman won a major decision 14-6 against Matt Zeug during 152-pound action to give the Red Bulls a 46-12 lead.

The Red Bulls and RRV swapped pins at the next two weight classes and then swapped forfeits to end the meet with a Red Bulls’ 58-24 win.

“We need to get healthy and get kids back in the lineup,” Red Bulls head coach Adam Williamson said. “Our bonus points and pins made the difference tonight.”

The Red Bulls (2-0) play host to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove and St. Clair/Mankato Loyola starting at 5 p.m. Friday in Sherburn.
