FARIBAULT — The Faribault Falcons beat the Fairmont Area Cardinals 9-0 in non-league boys hockey action Tuesday night at Faribault Ice Arena.

Blake Vinar got the scoring started for the Falcons when he used a double assist from Brody Pavel and Leighton Weasler for the lone goal of the first period with 3:14 left.

Jordan Nawrocki scored a power-play goal unassisted with 15:58 left in the middle segment before Zack Slinger used a double assist from Zach Siegert and Vinar at the 15:26 mark.

Noah Murphy kept the scoring going at the 12:25 mark off an assist from Weasler, then Siegert scored off a double assist from Murphy and Weasler at the 5:00 juncture.

Grady Goodwin scored with 40 seconds left in the middle segment off a Nawrocki assist, then Nawrocki scored his second off a Lucas Linnemann helper with 20 seconds remaining before the second break.

Pavel got the scoring started in the third period with an assist from Goodwin at the 11:10 mark, then Slinger scored unassisted with three minutes remaining.

Carsen Musser made 58 saves in goal for the Cardinals. Jake Dolter made nine saves for the Falcons, who outshot the Cardinals 67-9.

Fairmont Area (2-3) travels to New Ulm for a 7 p.m. matchup Thursday.
