Advance football tickets for sale at BEA

BLUE EARTH — Advance tickets for the Blue Earth Area Bucs football team’s Class AA state quarterfinal can be purchased from 8 a.m.–3 p.m. both Thursday and Friday at the Blue Earth Area High School office.

The prices for the tickets are $11 per adult and $7 per student.

No. 8-ranked Blue Earth Area (9-2) faces No. 3-ranked Minneapolis North (10-0) in a 5 p.m. state opener Saturday in Kasson.

Former Blue Earth wrestling standout dies

STAPLES — Don Dravis, who wrestled for Blue Earth High School before becoming one of the top high school wrestling coaches in state history, died on Sunday at his home in Staples, Minn. He was 82.

Dravis was on the Bucs wrestling team that finished as runner-up to Anoka at the 1955 state meet, which was held in Mankato.

After wrestling at Mankato State, where he was an All-American in 1958, he coached and taught at Staples High School for 32 years.

He coached Staples to seven state titles and coached 14 individual state champions. In 32 seasons, he coached Staples to a 401-51-4 record.
