U14 boys soccer falls in playoffs, 4-3

FAIRMONT — Albert Lea edged Lawn Solutions of Fairmont, 4-3, during U14 boys summer soccer playoff action July 11 in Albert Lea.

Brock Lutterman produced one goal and one assist for Fairmont, Isaiah Lebbi distributed two helpers, while Carson Pomerenke and Jack Sadusky each contributed one goal.

Lawn Solutions goalkeeper Wyatt Luhmann made 13 saves on the season finale.

Becker playing for Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Fort Wayne second baseman Luke Becker went 1-for-4 with a two-run double during the TinCaps’ 6-5 loss in 11 innings to the Clinton LumberJacks during Class A minor league baseball action Monday night in Clinton, Iowa.

Becker improved his batting average to .200 with Fort Wayne after being transferred from the Tri-City Dust Devils earlier this month.

Becker was hitting .245 in 14 games with the Dust Devils this spring before the move.

The former Fairmont High School and Kentucky Wildcat diamond standout has generated four hits in 20 at-bats, including the one extra-base hit, en route to three RBIs during his six-game stint with Fort Wayne.

Becker also has scored two runs and drawn two walks to post a .273 on-base percentage during Midwest League action.

Becker and the TinCaps play host to the Peoria Chiefs at 6:05 p.m. CDT tonight at Parkview Field.
