Beadle sparks North Union softball’s 6-3 triumph
SWEA CITY — The North Union Warriors softball lineup posted its second consecutive victory in as many days on the Iowa prep diamond in Swea City.
Cassie Beadle delivered a perfect 4-for-4 performance from the batter’s box to help North Union double the score on Garner-Hayfield/Ventura, 6-3, during a Top of Iowa Conference contest on Wednesday night.
The fleet-footed Beadle scored a team-leading three runs and collected one RBI on the night.
Olivia Von Bank and Vanessa Von Bank each generated a pair of hits in four official at-bats for North Union. Both of the Von Bank siblings crossed the plate once, with Olivia collecting one RBI on the game.
Shawna Person went 1-for-2 and generated a team-best two RBIs for the Warriors, while teammates Maddie Rolling and Maggie Engelby supplied extra-base power by connecting for doubles. Engelby also scored a run on the conference clash.
Right-handed eighth-grader Emily Meyer delivered 4 2/3 innings of outstanding relief pitching to earn the victory for North Union. Meyer allowed one unearned run on no hits, registered five strikeouts and issued three bases-on-balls to collect the pitching victory on the night.
Person started inside the chalked circle for the Warriors, allowing two earned runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings pitched to receive a no-decision. Person notched three strikeouts and issued four walks.
North Union (12-14), which coasted to a 13-3, six-inning victory over North Iowa on Tuesday night in Swea City, travels to Harlan Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge, Iowa, tonight to square off against St. Edmond’s.
