14U softball pockets 4 of 6 games

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont 14U softball team won four of six games during three doubleheaders throughout the week.

Fairmont split two games with St. James on Monday. St. James won the first matchup 7-6, while Fairmont took the second game 9-1.

Nevaeh Rahm had two doubles and a single during the two-game span, while Ashley Muller and Emily Muller had three hits each. Mandy Pytleski added a double and a single to the Fairmont offense.

Allison Janssen started the second game in the circle for Fairmont, pitching one inning with no runs and no hits, while Pytleski pitched the final three innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk, while collecting two strikeouts.

Fairmont then swept a doubleheader against Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial, 3-0 and 10-2, Tuesday.

Pytleski pitched three innings during the first game and gave up two hits and two walks, while striking out five, before Janssen came on for the final three innings, allowing no runs on no hits and three walks, while striking out three.

In the second game, Paige Hainy pitched three innings and allowed two runs on one hit and six walks, while striking out two. Rahm pitched the final two innings, giving up no hits and four walks, while striking out three.

Emma Gudahl had a double and two singles during Tuesday’s doubleheader, while Janssen had a double and a single. Chantel Moeller had two singles and Ashley Muller hit a double.

Fairmont split Wednesday’s doubleheader with Worthington. Worthington won the first matchup 5-3, while Fairmont took the second game 14-4.

Pytleski pitched the first three innings of the first game, giving up three runs on two hits and a walk, while striking out two. Janssen pitched the final inning and allowed two runs on one hit and one walk. Janssen also struck out two batters.

Hainy pitched the first three innings of Game 2 on Wednesday, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks, while striking out one, before Rahm came on for the final inning and gave up one run on no hits and two walks, while striking out two.

Ashley Muller, Emily Muller, Rahm and Chloe Miller each produced hits for Fairmont.

The Fairmont 14U team plays in the St. James tourney today.
