HERON LAKE — Ace right-hander Adam Schmidt hurled a complete-game gem and teammate Christian Petschke produced three hits to power the Fairmont Martins to a 6-1 victory over the Heron Lake Lakers during amateur baseball action Sunday.

Schmidt allowed one run on eight hits, recorded a game-leading 13 strikeouts and issued only one walk in seven innings of work to earn the victory for the Martins.

Petschke drove in one run with his three-hit total, Jon Traetow and Levi Becker each supplied one hit and two RBIs, while Blake Crawmer added a hit and one RBI.

Spencer Chirpich, Tyler Tennyson and Schmidt each contributed one hit to Fairmont’s offensive performance on the day.

The Martins play host to the Jackson Bulls at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Herb Wolf Field in Fairmont.
