North Union girls golfers advance to Iowa regional finals

LIVERMORE, Iowa — The North Union Warriors’ girls golf lineup earned runner-up team honors during Monday’s Iowa Class 1A, Region 3B tournament to advance to the regional championship round.

Host Bishop Garrigan produced four of the top five individual scores to win the Region 3B team crown with a total of 366.

North Union carded a second-place score of 413, while St. Edmond of Fort Dodge, Iowa, garnered third place at 448.

Bishop Garrigan, North Union and St. Edmond will tee off in the regional championship tournament Monday, May 20, at the Britt Golf Course in Britt, Iowa. The regional champion will qualify for the Iowa Class 1A state tournament.

Halle Rezac, who shared sixth-place individual honors overall with Northwest Webster’s Aubree Jones, fired an 18-hole round of 99 to pace North Union’s performance at Spring Valley Golf Course Monday.

Jordyn Cummins contributed a round of 103 to North Union’s regional-qualifying effort, Carys Fuller fired a 105, Vanessa VonBank penciled in an 18-hole mark of 106, while Kayla Sabin carded a 118 to complete the Warriors’ scoring.

Garrigan’s Bella Capesius collected top individual Region 3B honors by firing an 86, while St. Edmond’s Rylee Kinney claimed runner-up medalist honors with a 90.

Garrigan’s Anna Berke and Kelly Baade each carded rounds of 93 to tie for third-place honors, while Ava Eisenbarth tallied a 94 to finish fifth overall during Monday’s qualifier.
