MARSHALL — Five consecutive dual-meet victories to open the prep gymnastics season.

Sabrina Segar and Anna Bachenberg produced a 2-3 showing in the all-around competition to power the Martin County Area Magic to a 132.25-123.85 Big South Conference triumph over the Marshall Tigers on Thursday night in Marshall.

Segar compiled an all-around total of 34.85 points to claim runner-up individual accolades to Marshall’s Saphi McFarquhar (34.9), while Bachenberg captured third place overall with a score of 33.25.

Segar earned first-place finishes on both the vault and uneven parallel bars, shared the floor exercise crown with the Marshall standout, while capturing second place behind McFarquhar on the balance beam.

Segar generated a winning mark of 8.85 on the vault to fend off McFarquhar (8.75) and Bachenberg (8.725). Segar and Magic teammate Gwen Kallemeyn paced Martin County Area’s 1-2 showing on the uneven bars. Segar struck gold on the event with an 8.05, while Kallemeyn chalked up second place with a 7.8.

Bachenberg and Hailee Schuett contributed fourth- and fifth-place performances to nearly produce a sweep on the unevens. Bachenberg tallied a 7.525, while Schuett delivered a 7.375.

Segar, Bachenberg and Anna Utermarck netted the three spots, respectively, behind McFarquhar’s winning score of 9.25 on the beam.

Segar claimed second at 8.8, Bachenberg placed third with an 8.025, while Utermarck was third at 7.75.

McFarquhar prevented a Magic sweep on the floor by sharing the event’s top honor with Segar with a pair of 9.15s. Bachenberg placed third at 8.975, while Emma Schultze and Schuett shared fourth-place honors with 8.4s.

Martin County Area (5-0) plays host to Worthington on Tuesday night in Welcome in a Big South Conference dual meet.
