Belle Plaine tennis nets win over B.E. Area

BELLE PLAINE — The Belle Plaine Tigers engineered a doubles sweep to pace a 5-2 nonconference win over the Blue Earth Area Bucs during girls tennis action on Monday in Belle Plaine.

Tigers’ No. 1 doubles netters Lilly Olson teamed with Caitlin Preusser for a 6-0, 6-3 win over Malarie Scholtes and Tea Armstrong. Jessica Prader and Kimberly Teal beat McKenna Dutton and Sydney Blagg, 6-1, 7-5, at second doubles, while Jocelyn Defauw and Tatum Ackerman defeated Britt Howard and Cali Beyer, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

Julia Hanson provided the Bucs with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Siri Kuhn at the second singles position. Arika Howard added to the Bucs’ scoring colum, beating Tigers’ No. 4 player Katie Piampiano, 6-3, 6-1.

Kiersten Skelley took a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) victory over Macie Stevermer at the top singles position for the Tigers. Kadence Bran de Leon won 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 6-2 against BEA’s Carissa Engesser at the third singles spot.

Blue Earth Area (5-1) play Pipestone at 6 p.m. today in Luverne.
